‘Grasmere’ is a play about love, loss and passions. William Wordsworth and his sister, Dorothy lived in the lovely seclusion of the Lake District for years until one day, Mary Hutchinson arrived and their lives changed forever. Grasmere is not fact; it is a meditation on history, taking place over the course of one year. Samuel Coleridge adds danger as the visiting friend, who is trying desperately to finish his new epic poem about a wedding guest and an albatross. The four learn about each other when their lives begin to unravel – Samuel’s addictions take hold, William falls in love with Mary and Dorothy finds herself experiencing emotions that she can’t begin to describe.
Run time: 90 minutes, no intermission.
Recommended for mature audience ages 18 and up. No infants being held. All patrons require a ticket regardless of age.
